aboutmatt

Matthew Ryan Curley, son of Bob and Mary Curley, and brother to Brian Curley was born on September 26th 1982.  He grew up in Upstate New York in the Ballston Lake area and later attended Bucknell University studying Cell Biology.  After college Matt went on to New York Medical College where he was elected to the AOA honor society and graduated with his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2009.  Matt then began his training in Emergency Medicine at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center,  a teaching hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in NYC.  Matt, always the true adventurer, had a strong interest in Wilderness Medicine and had decided to pursue a Wilderness Medicine Fellowship after residency.

On a family vacation to Hawaii in August of 2011, Matt took part in a scuba diving exploration of a sunken ship off the coast of Oahu.  During the expedition, Matt became separated from the group.  Despite an extensive search by the Coast Guard, Matt was never found.

This scholarship fund in his honor is a small tribute to his life and memory.
